2014 Arctic Winter Games

Team Alberta North tryouts will be completed using two phases of trails. Zone specific trails will occur May 18 for Zone 7 and June 8 for Zone 8. Athletes qualifying through their zone trials will advance to Stage Two trials, which will be held in a neutral venue, accessible equally from each zone.

It is anticipated that Stage Two of the trials will be held in Edmonton on June 29. Only the top two finishers in each event will be eligible to attend the final Stage.

Entry Fee

The cost to attend the Stage One trials is $20 per player. All players must be members of Badminton Alberta. Non-members must pay an additional $20. All fees must be paid before play commences at the trials. There is no additional cost for qualified athletes to attend Stage Two trials.

Age Categories

To be eligible to participate athletes must be born in 1995 or later for Junior category and 1998 or later for Juvenile category. Team Alberta North will consist of eight athletes (2 males and 2 females in each the Junior and Juvenile category).

The 2014 Arctic Winter Games will be held in Fairbanks, Alaska from March 15-22, 2014.

Head Coach

Kathie Harrop of Peace River has been appointed Head Coach. Kathie is fully certified at Level 2, and has previous experience at the Games as both a player and as coach in 2006, 2008, 2010 & 2012. Darren Yee of Fort McMurray has been appointed Manager/Assistant Coach.
