Membership within Badminton Alberta is available to anyone interested in supporting the not-for-profit organization. Badminton Alberta was formed back on August 28, 1928 and was known as the Alberta Badminton Association. Effective 01 August 2022 Badminton Alberta will continue to recognize three types of individual membership:
- Youth (14 years & under),
- Adult (15 years & older)
- Life (a special category awarded by the Board of Directors).
The membership year will begin 01 August and expire on 31 July. The option for automatic annual renewal will now be available.

Badminton Alberta will continue to utilize two distinct levels of LICENSES: national and provincial for the 2022-23 season beginning August 10th. Each level of license purchase will require a basic Badminton Alberta membership. All sanctioned tournaments within Alberta will require the minimum of provincial level players license be obtained prior to registration through Tournament Software.
Individuals residing within Alberta interested in participating within any of Badminton Alberta's program offerings, such as sanctioned tournaments, on-court coaching and or officiating, must obtain the appropriate Badminton Alberta MEMEBERSHIP and LICENSE before being eligible to enter upon the Field of Play.
Licenses will become valid until 01 August of each year. The option for automatic annual renewal will now be available.

LOGIC: Please ensure that no Alberta coach can purchase a national coaches license without first being required to purchase a Badminton Alberta membership and provincial coaches’ license. The same logic would apply to national player license, which is in addition to Badminton Alberta membership and provincial players’ license.
