REGISTRATION PROCESS:
- Athletes must register through their Provincial Sport Organization by the date specified in the province you are representing. The Provincial Sport Organizations will submit all approved entries to Badminton Canada by Wednesday January 6, 2016.
- Coaches must register for their Badminton Canada Coaching Accreditation Badge through their Provincial Sport Organization by the posted tournament deadline. This is the same deadline as the athlete registration. Coaches must have completed their NCCP Comp Intro Regional Coach trained (formerly Level 1)
ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible for the Canadian National Badminton Championship, all athletes must meet the following requirements:
- Yonex Senior National Championship – Competitors must be a Canadian citizen validated by a Canadian passport or birth certificate. Identification must be presented at the time of registration to your PSO/TSO
- Must be a member of a P/TSO that is in good standing with Badminton Canada.
- Must not have played in any badminton championships restricted to another country within one calendar year of the date of the event.
The competition will be conducted under the official rules of Badminton Canada and the BWF.

- 14:00-15:00 Coaches meeting (Mandatory for all coaches who intend to coach at the Championship)
- 14:00-15:00 Athletes meeting
- 16:00 – 21:00 Qualifying matches (only if entry warrants). Round of 64 & Round of 32 matches
Thursday February 4, 2016.
- 09:00 to 17:00 Continuation of play Singles, Doubles and Mixed
- 17:00 to 21:00 Quarter Finals Singles, Doubles and Mixed
Friday February 5, 2016
- 14:00 to 17:00 Consolations
- 17:00 to 21:00 Semi Finals
Saturday February 6, 2016
- 09:00 to 12:00 Consolation Finals
- 12:00 to 16:00 Finals
EVENTS:
- Men's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Singles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
- Consolations will be held for all competitors defeated in their first round match of the main event. It will be the responsibility of each athlete to notify the draw desk, within 30-minutes of their opening round defeat.
TOURNAMENT FEE:
Single tournament entry fee of $155.00 includes:
- All shuttles during tournament play
- Participation in up to three events: singles, doubles, and mixed
- Athlete banquet: Saturday from 18:00 – 20:00 @ Winnipeg Winter Club, Hosted by Urban Prairie Cuisine
WITHDRAWAL POLICY:
- Badminton Canada must be notified of ay withdrawal by a player / pair from the tournament.
- For withdrawals made before entry deadline the refund policy will be set by the Provincial Association of the player /pair permanent residence.
- For withdrawals made before the entry deadline there is no penalty involved applied by Badminton Canada
- Withdrawals made after the entry deadline but before the draw date are not eligible for refunds.
- Withdrawals made after the draw date for any reason, renders the PSO/TSO liable to an amount of $25 per player / pair to Badminton Canada.
PSO/TSO fee will be waived for players with proven injuries that make it impossible for an athlete to compete provided documentation from a doctor is provided.
ENTRY DEADLINE:
The tournament entry deadline is set by the Provincial Association of player/pair permanent residence, no later than January 4th, 2016.
PRIZES AND SHUTTLES:
- Medals will be provided to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
- Official shuttle will be YONEX feather shuttle.
- Shuttles will be provided for all matches.
SEEDING:
The seeding will be done by the BCAN seeding committee using the BCAN seeding regulations for Open events
RULES:
The 21-Rally Point scoring format will be utilized. Three-minute warm-up and ten minute default will be strictly enforced. The use of protective eyewear is strongly recommended during play.
UNIFORM REGULATIONS:
Any athletes participating in the Canadian National Championships or Canadian Junior and Under 23 National Championships may only have their NAME and/or CLUB/PROVINCE written on their competitive playing clothes. This rule does not apply to the athlete’s warm-up clothing. The size of the player's name and club/province must conform to BWF General Competition Regulations 19-23.
Any coaches on the field of play during the Canadian National Championships or Canadian Junior and Under 23 National Championships may only have their NAME and/or CLUB/PROVINCE written on their coaching apparel.
Only athletes and coaches who are currently or were previously part of a Badminton Canada sanction team shall be allowed to have CANADA written or represented by a Canadian flag on their competitive playing clothes or coaching apparel, respectively.
