Donation Program

Volunteering Through Benevity

Every time our volunteers show up to organize, scorekeep, set up courts, or support our badminton events, they are helping build a stronger, more inclusive community around the sport we all love. Your volunteer work helps young athletes grow, keeps events running smoothly, and creates a positive space for people to learn, play, and connect.

Your donated time could be supplemented with financial support toward Badminton Alberta, through Benevity, at no cost to you.
Many companies support employee volunteerism through corporate giving platforms like Benevity, which allows employees to log volunteer hours. In return, the company donates money to the nonprofit organization based on those hours. That means your commitment on the court could translate into real dollars to help fund equipment, coaching/officiating programs, tournament costs, and more.

How It Works:

Step 1: Check if your company uses Benevity (many major employers do — like Google, Microsoft, RBC, and others).

Step 2: Log in to your company's Benevity portal.

Step 3: Search for Badminton Alberta in the causes database.

Step 4: Record your volunteer hours.

Step 5: Your company may donate funds based on the time you've given

Ask your HR team if your company participates in Benevity, or check your employee volunteer/donation program portal. Logging your hours takes just a few minutes and can make a lasting difference.

Thank you for being part of our badminton family. Your time means more than you know!

SPAR Donation Fund

Sport Alberta established the Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation (SPAR) Donation Fund Program to give individuals and corporate donors the ability to assist recognized not-for-profit sport and recreation organizations, and athletes, in obtaining financial support. The program gives an opportunity for a tax incentive to invest in the future of the sector and a process for the acceptance of contributions from charitable organizations.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sport administers the Donation Fund, which can provide tax-deductible receipts for unconditional contributions to amateur sport or recreation in Alberta.

The Ministry provides this service without charging any administration fees. The full amount of each donation goes directly to the support of sport and recreation.
