Badminton Alberta will be selecting 4 U17 boys and 4 U17 girls to represent thier zone at the 2026 Alberta Winter Games, held in Alberta's Lakeland County from February 13 - 16, 2026

ENTRY AND ZONE PLAYOFF PROCEDURES - all entries will be accepted into one registration file regardless of the trials location. Once registered, we will add a number (Zone Number) in between your first and last name.

Eligibility:
• Athletes will be ineligible if they have represented Canada in the team event at either World Junior or Pan-Am Junior competitions.
• Athletes may compete in the Zone of their residence or the Zone where they are a club member and actively train at, however, they must declare Zone of choice prior to playoffs.
• Athletes born between February 17, 2009 – February 12, 2015, are eligible to compete in badminton at the 2026 Alberta Winter Games. Athletes must be between the ages of 11 – 16 during the dates of the Games (Feb 13-16, 2026).
• Athletes that are 17 years of age or are turning 17 during the dates of the Games ARE NOT eligible to participate.

Each zone will conduct their own trials.
• Time and courts permitting, zone trials will consist of singles competition only.
• Following play at each zone trials, the athletes will be ranked in ascending order with the top four players per gender being selected to the respective zone team
• Each zone will qualify 4 males and 4 females for nomination to represent their respective zones.
• Qualified zone athletes will be restricted to one individual event entry in the individual event competition, and must be nominated no more than once in each tie within the team competition.

 

Each athlete attending the zone trials must pay the $20 entry fee and be a member of Badminton Alberta. All entries must be performed on-line through Badminton Alberta's portal to Tournament Software (TS). Non-members must sign-up for a TS account and pay for their membership before they can enter the trials.
