2026 Arctic Winter Games

The 2026 Arctic Winter Games will be held in Whitehorse, Yukon from March 8th - 15th, 2026. Team Alberta North will represent our province at the event and consists of Albertans from regions north of the 55th Parallel.

Badminton Alberta will be selecting two male and two female athletes in each of the u16 and u18 age categories to represent Team Alberta North at the 2026 Arctic Winter Games taking place in Whitehorse, Yukon from March 8-15, 2026.
Athletes will be selected through a two stage trials format. Stage One trials will be held on September 13th for Zone 7 (NE) and September 14th for Zone 8 (NW). The top two male and female athletes in each age category will advance to Stage Two trials scheduled to take place in Edmonton (B-Active Badminton Centre) on September 27th. All athletes eligible to attend Stage Two trials will be invited to attending a Training Camp on Sunday, September 28 at B-Active Badminton Centre.
Final team selection will be announced at the conclusion on Stage Two trials on September 27th. a
Team Alberta North will consist of four male and four female athletes (two in each age category - u16 & u18), one coach and one manager.

Stage One - Zone 7 Trial: Sept. 13th 2025, 9AM-2PM, Holy Trinity High School, 230 Powder Dr, Fort McMurray, AB T9K 0W8
Stage One - Zone 8 Trial: Sept. 14th 2025, 1PM-5PM, Mile Zero Multiplex, 4609 50 St, Grimshaw, AB T0H 0B8
Stage Two - Final Trials: Sept. 27th 2025, 2PM-6PM, B-Active Badminton Club, 14830 – 112 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5M 2T9
Stage Two - Training Camp: Sept. 28th 2025, 9AM-1PM, B-Active Badminton Club, 14830 – 112 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5M 2T9

Eligibility:
- Athlete must not have represented one's nation in international competition (outside of Arctic Winter Games) in badminton
- Athlete must be a residident of Alberta North - above the 55th parallel, continuously for 6 months prior to opening day of the Games
- Must be in good standing with Badminton Alberta

About The Event:
The Arctic Winter Games is both an international sports tournament and a cultural exchange event with youth participants from regions of the world north of the 55th Parallel. The games showcases a large diversity with teams from Alaska, Northern Alberta, Greenland, Nunavik - Quebec, Nunavut, The North West Territorries, the region of Spami and the Yukon.
