The purpose of Badminton Alberta is to provide the necessary leadership to ensure the good order of the development of the sport in Alberta.
Badminton Alberta is registered as a non-profit society and has been incorporated under the Societies Act of Alberta since August 28, 1928.
Mission Statement - “Through leadership and service, promote the sport of badminton.”
Association Mandate - Badminton Alberta will govern the organized aspects of the sport, including enforcement of the international laws of badminton at all sanctioned competitions, the rules and regulations of Badminton Canada as they may apply to activities conducted in this province.
Name Change - Effective September 21, 1991, the association began operating under the trade name of Badminton Alberta.
Funding Partners - The association receives annual funding for its programs and operations from Alberta Community Development and the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks & Wildlife Foundation.
Board of Directors - The affairs of Badminton Alberta are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Directors are elected by the membership and serve a two year term.
Directors in zones 1, 3, 5 and 7 are elected in odd numbered years, while directors in zones 2, 4, 6 and 8 are elected in even numbered years.
